After peripheral nerve injury， the repair and functional reconstruction is always a difficult problem in clinical treatment. In this paper， the concept of chemotactic regeneration of peripheral nerve， the differences between sensory and motor neurons， the distal end of the nerve， Schwann cells， fibroblasts and axon guidance factors were reviewed， which will provide fundamental knowledge for developing better engineered nerve tissue and promoting the recovery of neural function in the future.
